We Don’t Need No Education!! We Don’t Need No Thought Control!!Hey Teacher Leave Them Kids Alone!!
I was quite surprised to read on the Fiji Times Online site the Interim Regime’s plans to merge certain State owned training colleges together. The Fiji Times reported that the Fiji Institute of Technology, the Fiji School of Nursing, the Lautoka Teachers College and the Fiji College of Agriculture will be merged, what was even more surprising was the fact they will come under the Fiji University Science and Technology.

Maybe the Interim Minister better go back and hit the books again because none of the qualifications that these institutions offer equate to a university degree. They are all diploma level courses, for them to qualify as university level courses they would have to be accredited by other educational institutions offering degree courses. That is not a cheap exercise as it would entail a major upgrade of the curriculum, facilities and teaching staff.
The Fiji Times reported that:
“It based its decision on a submission by the interim Education Minister Netani Sukanaivalu, and presented on behalf of the interim Public Service, Public Enterprises and Public Sector Reform Minister Poseci Bune. A scoping study is expected to be undertaken to clearly articulate the financial viability, educational and other benefits of the proposed merger.
Mr Bune said the study would determine whether the changes could be accomplished through short term and immediate change over a few months, mid-term transformation happening in stages over two years, or longer term development over a number of years.”
Who’s going to pay for it, Sukanaivalu and Bunesky’s grandfathers? Nope you, me and all our kids are going to be hit with the bleeding bill.

This country doesn’t need higher education institutions like those suggested by IG above…only a need to have the ability to bark orders, pull up a gun, defy authority and be dumb..you can go places in life ..at least locally. Example has been set by Voreqe and interim government..

They need it and some time in the very near future University of Fiji will be a party to that conglomeration, so as to up their status and control of Fiji’s education system altogether.

So that means we have 3 Universities in a very small market i.e. Fiji. Have they done any feasability study on this?

Come on Mr Senikokoda, Mr PO, I would suggest that you first heads together and find a formula on economic recovery rather than making a stupid move. Fiji is faced with unbalance economic strength and globalization development. Financially who will be servicing this institution if put in place, your fathers??lol…come on be real on current situation and dont try to show the public that you are doing something useless at this hour.
What a waste of time and tax payers money on the idots, my advise for you two try to apply SWOT analysis method on every move you make in future.
