We Don’t Need No Education!! We Don’t Need No Thought Control!!Hey Teacher Leave Them Kids Alone!!

I was quite surprised to read on the Fiji Times Online site the Interim Regime’s plans to merge certain State owned training colleges together. The Fiji Times reported that the Fiji Institute of Technology, the Fiji School of Nursing, the Lautoka Teachers College and the Fiji College of Agriculture will be merged, what was even more surprising was the fact they will come under the Fiji University Science and Technology.

Read the full story here. Institutes to Merge.

Maybe the Interim Minister better go back and hit the books again because none of the qualifications that these institutions offer equate to a university degree. They are all diploma level courses, for them to qualify as university level courses they would have to be accredited by other educational institutions offering degree courses. That is not a cheap exercise as it would entail a major upgrade of the curriculum, facilities and teaching staff.

The Fiji Times reported that:

“It based its decision on a submission by the interim Education Minister Netani Sukanaivalu, and presented on behalf of the interim Public Service, Public Enterprises and Public Sector Reform Minister Poseci Bune. A scoping study is expected to be undertaken to clearly articulate the financial viability, educational and other benefits of the proposed merger.

Mr Bune said the study would determine whether the changes could be accomplished through short term and immediate change over a few months, mid-term transformation happening in stages over two years, or longer term development over a number of years.”

Who’s going to pay for it, Sukanaivalu and Bunesky’s grandfathers? Nope you, me and all our kids are going to be hit with the bleeding bill.

Fuggedaboutit was pleasantly surprised to see another addition to the Blogosphere, in the absence of Why Is Fiji Crying a new site entitled Solivakasama has picked up where WFC left off.

Who’s On First? What’s On Second?

Rather than get involved in a bad version of an Abbot and Costello routine with SDL and repeating myself over and over again, read the Masterscript from APRIL, at the link at the bottom of the page, which was released earlier in the year. Many of the claims made by the blogger who goes by the name of SDL should be seen once and for all for what they are, fanciful flights of his imagination.

Until he understands the simple fact that APRIL was the Developer and came up with the genesis for the Natadola Project I feel we’ll be running around in circles. And as for his claims that Construction Projects require Civil Engineers  as project managers he should recheck his ‘facts’ again. There have been numerous occassions where the Project Managers are Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Registered Surveyors, Construction Managers and yes even Engineers.

Some examples of this are

FHL Ra Marama Building: LOMAC Project Management, neither of the two Principals of this company are Architects or Engineers but have a substantial amount of experience in the Construction Industry as Master Builders.

Kadavu Holdings Building: Vitia Architects.

Laucala Bay Island Resort: Colin Radford, neither an Architect or Engineer.

FIT Nadi Campus: Architects Pacific.

Natadola Resort: APRIL, of whom two of their management team are Civil Engineers.

Boselevu Vakaturaga Complex: Jaimi and Associates until the Principal’s passing away before being taken over by Ian Mackellen Associates.

If that isn’t clear enough for SDL then perhaps this definition of Project Managers from Wikipedia might enlighten him. Pay particular attention to the second line.

Project management is quite often the province and responsibility of an individual project manager. This individual seldom participates directly in the activities that produce the end result, but rather strives to maintain the progress and productive mutual interaction of various parties in such a way that overall risk of failure is reduced.

A project manager is often a client representative and has to determine and implement the exact needs of the client, based on knowledge of the firm he/she is representing. The ability to adapt to the various internal procedures of the contracting party, and to form close links with the nominated representatives, is essential in ensuring that the key issues of cost, time, quality, and above all, client satisfaction, can be realized.

In whatever field, a successful project manager must be able to envision the entire project from start to finish and to have the ability to ensure that this vision is realized.

Any type of product or service —buildings, vehicles, electronics, computer software, financial services, etc.— may have its implementation overseen by a project manager and its operations by a product manager.

Some People Need Their Head Checked

This post on HydenCeek Natadola Report Proves Regime Wrong elicited the following comment from a Blogger who goes by the tongue in cheek name of SDL. Read the following and my subsequent response to his persistent blind determintation to look the other way when faced with the truth.  You have to hand it to these pro military bloggers, once they get an idea there’s no convincing them otherwise. Anyways enough said and read on, I have only responded to his allegations concerning the Natadola Case.

The audit was on FNPF not Natadola project. E & Y examined the accounts of FNPF and management, not APRIL or Natadola. So HnC is already spinning the truth like it alway has.

APRIL was a vehicle of corruption. Dakuidreketi is not a qualified Engineer and APRIL has no experience in Hotel Construction. So how come they get contract as Developer of Natadola Project? It became apparent that Dakuidreketi’s was abusing his NLTB board membership and APRIL got the contract for Natadola (charging $4million in just admin and management fees).

Sorry SDL
But no one ever claimed that Keni Dakuidreketi was an Engineer, as a matter of fact neither did he. He is a registered land and property valuer with experience from NLTB and over fifteen years of running his own business as well as having a property development background.

Do you even know what these guys do and how they perform their duties? They are there to value the land based on its potential earning capacity, i.e. bringing or adding value to that land by creating commercial developments on the land.

When will you fuckwits understand that there was a binding contract with APRIL investments, and the FNPF Board, who went on to hire Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and in turn Construction Companies. All of these companies are owed money because they have produced working drawings that have enabled the project to be built. Who is going to pay them? Your Father?

No one is saying that the Board does not have the right to terminate APRIL as Project Managers, that is well within their jurisdiction. The fact of the matter is this Illegal Board had no business getting involved because they were illegally installed.

That asides if they knew what they were doing, which they’ve quite clearly demonstrated they don’t, then they should have followed the Termination of Appointment Clause that exists in the contract. Then they wouldn’t have opened up the FNPF Fund Members to legal action by virtue of the ignorant actions of the Illegally Appointed Board.

People like you and Felix Anthony have no idea of the Commercial Complexities of what it takes to run a project of this magnitude. Before you even lay the first concrete block you have spent a couple of hundred thousand dollars on the Design Work and Contract Drawings, Site Preparations and Investigations. Scientific testing carried out by Geotech Engineers to determine the ground Conditions which will in turn will affect the appropriateness of materials and design.

You should just go back and stick your head in the sand….better yet stick it up Felix Anthony’s ass, he could use the company seeing as how he’s shirking away from the public spotlight. E lamu tiko o koya se cava? Drau pamu!!

Besides that they just spent $10,000,000.00 of our money on a report that found no wrong doing on the part of those investigated.

Wild Goose Chase Gone Wrong….

Felix Anthony’s Namesake Returning A Copy of The Ernst and Young Report To Him Along With The Mess He Made!

Well in the ongoing Natadola Saga and the now leaked copy of the Ernst and Young Audit, I hate to say I told you so but in case Felix Anthony is listening…… “Hey, You Ignoramus!! I told you so!! Thanks to you our funds are now liable to legal action!”

Click on the link to read the Fiji Times story for the full details Nothing In Natadola Case. The Fiji Times Report goes on to say the following.

THE independent audit of the Fiji National Provident Fund which reportedly found no discrepancy or evidence of fraud was expected, said former project director of Asia Pacific Resort International Limited (APRIL) Keni Dakuidreketi.

“We were expecting it,” he said.

“That’s why it took so long for the report to come out. Otherwise, they would have smashed it right in our face from day one.

“Instead, they went on a wild goose chase.”

The audit by accounting firm Ernst and Young and commissioned by the FNPF’s new board, reportedly found no evidence of fraud in regards to investment but this, it said, was because it did not have full access to certain personal accounts.

According to Fiji One news, the report was comprehensive and looked at all aspects of the Fund, from investment to the conduct of managers.

The report’s executive summary said there was no evidence of fraud in respect of investments.

I have taken a personal interest in the Natadola affair from the beginning due to my money being involved as an FNPF fund member and the fact that I think the development vision of APRIL would rival or even surpass Denarau Island. In case you haven’t been up to date with developments in this story I have placed links to previous posts on the unfolding drama.

Felix The Cat…Heavens To Murgatroid..A Rat Even..hmm Exit Stage Left!!

Felix The Cat…Where’sThe Bleeding Report?? You Conniving Rat!!

Funnily enough there’s no word from that Cabron Felix Anthony, usually he can’t wait to get his face in front of a camera. Just as Keni Dakuidreketi stated in the Fiji Times report above, the outcome of the report has exonerated them of all of the unfounded allegations made by that Imbroglione Felix The Cat. If there were any damaging findings concerning APRIL’s management practices then Felix The Cat would surely have released the report without hesitation.

The fact is they have sat on this report for over four months because the Interim Regime and all those involved had hoped the matter would fade away and die a natural death. The question now is what does Felix Anthony et al have to say now that they have placed FNPF members’ funds in jeopardy by subjecting us to a costly lawsuit by APRIL for breach of contract?

Remember that APRIL is perfectly within their rights to sue the FNPF Board, by extension we the shareholders as well, as the conditions of termination of contract were not observed. That’s what happens when you get a Unionist who is used to standing on a soapbox and fighting about social issues. But when you put him in charge of a commercial entity with all of it’s intricate technical and financial complexities, of which he has ABSOLUTELY BUGGER ALL EXPERIENCE, then he may as well just get off the soapbox take out a bar of soap from the box and STUFF HIS MOUTH…..or something else for that matter!!

My suggestion is that Felix The Cat’s namesake takes the bomb he’s carrying and do us all a favour by putting us out of misery….return the bomb to it’s righful owner Felix Anthony quicksmart!!! Have we heard the end of this saga? Not by a long shot!! Will we be hearing from that Rat B!#$*?@ anytime soon giving an explanation for his actions????

Fuuuuugggggeeeedaaabooouttiiit!!!!!

New York, New York…..

Well Folks sorry for the prolonged absence it wasn’t out of choice I’ve just been so busy with work that I haven’t had time to post anything. It’s funny how in a depressed economy we seem to be working harder than ever for less and less money. Anyways now that my apologies are out of the way I’d like to commend Hydenceek for the stellar effort he’s done in keeping the Fiji Freedom Bloggers rolling on.

Not having watched the news lately I was dumbfounded by the latest rantings of our Intrepid Idiot who lives in that house on the hill on Ratu Sukuna Road, yes ladies and gentlemen none other than Fiji’s own Nacho Libre. Just when you thought it was safe to venture out without having to hear anymore asinine comments from the No School Commander Viavia Prime Minister, he comes up with these pearlers. This is in response to reports from Fijilive that Frank will be addressing the United Nations General Assembly. Click on the quotations below for the full story.

Fijilive

Bainimarama said the UN has invited him in his capacity as Fiji’s leader and he would go and “plead” Fiji’s case.“I’m going to New York next week. I have been invited by the General Assembly to make a speech. Every head of State goes up and speaks in the General Assembly and they have invited us,” he said.

“I will tell them what democracy is like in Fiji, like the one’s that you people think we should have.

When asked what he will be speaking on, Bainimarama said, “You go to the General Assembly and plead your case, you tell them what’s happening in Fiji, what you intend to do with regards to UN issues and come back a happy man”.

“One of the reasons we going there is to tell the international community what is happening in Fiji,” he added.

What Frank fails to understand is that what he perceives a s a ringing endorsement of his Interim Regime by being asked to address the UN General Assembly is in no way at all a declaration of approval from the UN. At the end of the day the UN General Secretary understands only too well that the legitimacy of the Interim Regime can only come from the people of Fiji. Let’s face it you can pretty much guarantee that there’s no ringing endorsement coming from the man on the street, work is scarce in a sluggish economy and investment isn’t flowing in even after all of Chaudhry’s vain attempts to kickstart, more like sabotage, the economy.

Frank should not expect any favours from any of the UN Bodies not after the UNHC for Human Rights shot Shyster Shamimi down in flames with a lesson in the language of diplomacy. The UN is well informed of the situation on the ground in Fiji as there are numerous highly qualified Fiji Officers, now serving in the UN with disticntion, who have had their careers shortened prematurely because of their unwillingness to support Bainimahendra. They are most definitely keeping their superiors in the loop on the latest goings on in Fiji.

Also don’t expect any of the horse trading for support from our traditional trading partners and Neighbours from around the Pacific. Especially after they have had egg thrown on their face by the Interim Regime’s inability to adhere to a credible Roadmap to Democracy

The UN General Assembly has a history of allowing Dictators and Terrorists to address the Genreal Assembly, at the end of the day it is part and parcel of the democratic ideals on which the Organisation was founded to allow despots and tyrants a fair hearing no matter how despicable they may be. You may recall that Terrorist leader and PLO Headman Yasser Arafat gave his famous speech, click on the link for details, where he stated for posterity, “Today I have come bearing an olive branch and a freedom fighter’s gun. Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand.”

Ten bucks for anyone’s guess as to what our own terrorist Frank will be saying to make his mark on history…..

Methinks it’ll be a case of  “Moce Jo, Au Sa Dro…..” as Frank will be too ‘lamu’ to leave Fiji for New York let alone the Pacific Forum in Tonga. He’ll probably hold his speech from the Veiuto Grounds where he seems to be spending a lot of time playing touch lately. Then again the kids at that school could probably make more sense than him when speaking in public.

Perhaps when Voreqe’s in jail, or dead and buried, the students of Veiuto Primary can perform an item dedicated to the illustrious idiot. At the next Tadra Kahani they can dress up as Qarase’s SDL Cabinet and sing the Sister Sledge Classic “Frankie Do You Remember Me?”

A cava tale Voreqe, uh, uh, uh?? Na Rere Tiko Vei Iko!!! Qito touch rakavi tiko……Mai na polo, mai na polo!!
